CBWS Research

Capital Bike and Walk is interested in research on bicycling, walking and issues of active living, personal and community health. Our research pages will link you to valuable information sources, old and new, that advance our understanding of these issues. Visit frequently and watch for updates on additions to our research page, or share with us new information you have found that fits.

Here are two examples:

CBWS Bike & Pedestrian Counts

Collecting data on bike and pedestrian traffic is important to support advocacy work on projects to accommodate cycling and walking.

You can help by conducting your own counts and sending the information back to us. We’ll incorporate your data into our audit reports that analyze our transportation infrastructure and provide recommendations to improve conditions for cyclists and pedestrians.

CBWS Reports: Case Studies and Best Practices

CBWS gathers information on "best practices", organizes workshops and conducts local site audits to develop specific recommendations aimed at improving conditions for cycling and walking. Our "CBWS Reports Page" includes our own projects and contributions from other sources. Watch for regular additions to our library of reports, papers and presentations.

CBWS projects are supported by grants from VanCity, the City of Victoria, Saanich, View
Royal, the Provincial Capital Commission, the Province of BC, Translink, Mountain
Equipment Coop and private funders. Support for this project does not necessarily imply
VanCity’s or other sponsor endorsement.
